The Grand Imam: Al-Azhar Takes Pride in Deeply-Rooted Relations with Tajikistan throughout Ages
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad Mohammad At-Tayyeb, met with the Ambassador of Tajikistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Zarobiddin Kosimi, to discuss channels for promoting scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation between Al-Azhar and Tajikistan.
At-Tayyeb affirmed his pride in the long-standing deeply-rooted relations between Al-Azhar and Tajikistan; the fact reflected in the number of Tajik students at Al-Azhar University and institutes. In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the number of Tajik students reached 378 including 56 students on scholarships.
Moreover, At-Tayyeb highlighted that Tajikistan has an honorable record and a significant mark in the history of Islamic culture and that Al-Azhar owes its gratitude to Tajik scholars and figures for enriching Islamic heritage and sciences. At-Tayyeb expressed Al-Azhar’s willingness to increase scholarships given to Tajik students and to train Tajik Imams at Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers (AIATIP) at the hands of distinguished Azhari professors and scholars to become well qualified to deal with various contemporary issues.
