The World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates Condemns Terrorist Attack on Military Unit in Mali
The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates condemned the terrorist attack carried out by gunmen against an army unit in the Mopti region in central of Mali, killing 2 soldiers and injuring 4 others.
The Organization said in a statement the Islamic law recommended maintaining human rights and protecting it against abuses; besides, it threatened those who shed blood to be severely punished in the world and the hereafter. The Holy Quran said: “Truly the only requital of those who fight against God and His Messenger and hasten about the earth to do corruption there is that they shall be slaughtered, or crucified, or have their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or be banished from the land. ۚ That is a degradation for them in this world,ۖand in the Hereafter, theirs will be a great chastisement.” [Q. 5: ٣٣].
The Organization pointed to the fact that policemen and armies play a great role in protecting nations. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says “Two eyes will never be touched by the fire of Hell; an eye which weeps out of fear of Allah and an eye which spends the night in guarding in the Cause of Allah.”
The statement pointed out that killing people is one of the grievous sins; as Allah said in the Holy Quran: “Whoso slayeth a believer of set purpose, his reward is hell forever. Allah is wroth against him and He hath cursed him and prepared for him an awful doom.”[Q. 4: 93]. Also, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Avoid the seven destructive things.” It was asked: “What are they, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Associating anyone or anything with Allah in worship; practicing sorcery, killing of someone without a just cause whom Allah has forbidden, devouring the property of an orphan, eating of usury, fleeing from the battlefield and slandering chaste women who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim)
At the end of the statement, the Organization extended its condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, praying to spare the whole world the flames of intolerance, extremism, and terrorism.
